[Consumerwide - Jinil Kang Reporter / Yohan Bok Reporter]  Three major telecommunication businesses began ESG activities. SKTelecom is practising environmental protection through making an environmental funeral culture. LGUplus is offering on and offline benefits along with an environmental protection related project in cooperation with Incheonsi and Lotte Homeshopping. KT is practising ESG through shared growth activities for small businesses.

On the 18th, referring to the industry, SKT decided to adopt a reusable cup circulation system in Eunhasu Park in order to reduce disposable waste that is consumed in memorial parks and crematoriums. Sejong Facilities Management Corporation, Social Business Happy Connect, Wangsan Duraemaeul Cooperative support the project. According to the Ministry of Environment, disposable cup waste of overall funeral home in Korea counts 3.7 billion unit per year, which is a 2,300 tons of scale. SKT is seeing that this project will contribute to reducing the use of disposable cups up to 110 thousand unit, which equals carbon absorption (3.2 tons) by 1370 pine trees annually.

An associated person from SKTelecom said, "We plan to expand our business for memorial parks, funeral home, and hospitals, whose institutions want to adopt our reusable cup circulation system. We are going to provide a customised clean service along with a collection and an ideal washing process for an environment that has many visitors simultaneously."

LGUplus, Incheonsi, and Lotte Homeshopping are cooperating for ESG activities. The first step is expanding NFT ecology. They are expanding benefit for holder of NFT from one of three institutes, which include LGU "Muneocrew NFT", Incheonsi "Heros NFT", Lotte Homeshopping "Bellygom NFT"). The holders of LGU Muneo and Muneocrew NFT are guaranteed early access to Incheon Heros NFT, which is motivated by the Jeombakkiemulbeom (Spotted seal) character of Incheonsi and is newly published on the 25th of October and December this year. The Incheon Heros NFT contains a story of a superhero, Jeombakkiemulbeom, who participates in protecting the environment of the earth and the sea, and stands against climate change, along with the citizens. This ESG project targets MZ generation. Lotte Homeshopping announced Bellybom NFT, which is made of 6 levels, in August 2022. An associated person from LGUplus said that they plan for various ways to expand NFT ecology, including on and offline benefit and ESG related activities such as environmental protection, in cooperation with three businesses.
