[Consumerwide_ HueSoung, Jun Reporter / Yohan, Bok Reporter] ID.4 of Volkswagen, the first electric car in the domestic market, is having the second Recall because of the handle risk. In other words, the door may open suddenly in the middle of driving. I see that ID.4, the electric car, can be one of the value consumption for those who prioritize the environment. This recall is about the ID.4 model released last year. Currently, ID.4 hasn't arrived on the domestic market. Volkswagen Korea sees that ID.4 2023 that is going to be released during the second half of the year in Korea won't have any problems because they have already resolved the issue.
On the 2nd of July, followed by the Car Recall Center in Korea, a major risk was discovered from Volkswagen ID.4. Because a membrane sticker is not well set on the latch, the inner part of a car door, it is possible that the door opens in the middle of driving. The 4 doors are all found with the same risk.
In response to this, Volkswagen Korea is beginning to recall the issue from 7th of June. Replacements on the door handle and software updates are offered at the official service center. 1276 ID.4 was sold last year, referring to the Korea Automobile Importers & Distributors Association in the domestic area.
A Volkswagen Korea related person said during the Consumerwide interview, "This recall issue relates to the ID.4 that was sold last year. At the moment, we are not selling ID.4. You will be able to see the ID.4 2023 in the second half of the year."
Indeed, the technical fault of ID4 is not the first time. Volkswagen recalled 1292 cars last year for corrosion risk on the trunk hinge joint of ID.4 in January. Thus, this is their second recall. ID.4 is the first electric model of Volkswagen Korea which promotes their automation in the domestic area. For this reason, their cars have a special meaning for loyal customers of the Volkswagen brand. Nevertheless, the fault is tightly connected to the quality, and so does safety. Thankfully, it's known that there are no casualties in Korea. It is inconvenient for ID.4 owners because they need to take extra time and expenses to visit the official repair centers.
Therefore, I suspect that Volkswagen Korea has got to strive for better quality, safety, and customer satisfaction. Considering the new ID.4 which is going to be released during the second half in domestic areas, I hope that there won't be more news about any sort of risk if they care about customers who make a choice for environmental reasons.
