Editor's note- ESG, which contains sustainable ideas through environmental and social responsibility and management, is taking a place as mandatory, not an option. Yet, quite a number of businesses are still ignoring this matter. ESG management is directly linked to consumption value. Thus, we are reporting on the steps of leading ESG management businesses this year, hoping to bring messages to both consumers and businesses that are not aware of their importance.

[Consumerwide- Youngchul Woo Reporter/ Yohan Bok Reporter] Sealy Korea was contributing to resource circulation by using recycled materials for mattresses and wooden packaging for store interiors while also practicing ESG management, including cooperation and sharing growth with local society this year.

E: Seeking environmental sustainability

Sealy Korea was contributing to resource circulation by using recycled plastic-based fabric for mattresses and reusing Australian wooden packaging that is used to protect spring coils in containers for store interiors. This can contribute to resource circulation by reusing wood waste from transportation, and it also helps create a cosy and comfortable atmosphere in the store through the authentic colours and wave texture of the wood. Yoon Jonghyo, the CEO of Sealy, thought through issues of reducing packaging waste and eventually came up with this idea. Currently, Chungdam, Shinsegae Simon Paju Premium Outlet, Hyundai Department Store Cheonho and Jungdong, and AK Plaza Pyeongtaek are using recycled wood for store interiors.

Sealy Korea plans to continue to recycle wood waste to expand the store.

On June 16th, 2023, Sealy Korea hosted a KBS Symphony Orchestra special concert at Yeoju Factory. This concert began in the last eleven years when Sealy Korea began sponsoring the KBS Symphony Orchestra. 200 Yeoju citizens, including people from the Yeojusi Welfare Centre for people with impairments and the Silver Welfare Centre.

On the 29th, an associated person from Sealy Korea said during an interview with Consumerwide, "We've been trying our best to take responsibility and obligation for the environment, beginning with releasing mattresses using recycled fabric and interiors utilising wood waste as the importance of ESG management rises in domestic business. We plan to expand environmental businesses in various ways to help consumers practice an eco-friendly lifestyle. In the future, we will make various efforts for shared growth as business citizens in the Yeoju area by continuing social contribution activities while creating job placements."
