The average sales price of gasoline recorded 1750 won per liter, which was a 5 won increase from a week prior. In the Seoul area, some stations recorded over 1800 won per liter. The price of Dubai oil, which is a measure of imported raw oil price, went over 90 dollars after 10 months.

The choice of consumers for new car purchases is changing due to the high price of petrol on a regular basis. More consumers are choosing hybrids, which are considered to consume less fuel while being clean, for their new cars.

On the 11th, according to an August hybrid new car sales trend report, which Consumerwise got by requesting Carisyou datalab, hybrid cars were advanced during August due to an increase in consumption.

The sales record of new cars in all fuel categories has decreased compared to a month prior except for the hybrid type. The sales record of hybrids rose by 40.9% compared to the same season last year, and ranked second in market share by recording 17.6%, which is beyond the record of diesel (17.4%).

In all age groups, customers in their 50s chose the most new hybrid cars by recording 3567 during August. The rest of the records, which show the preference of age groups, are as follows: customers in their 40s, 2580, in their 60s, 2470, in their 30s, 2484, in their 20s, 729. The business customers purchased 5321 hybrid cars.

In the regional category, customers in Gyounggido area preferred the most hybrid cars compared to other provinces by recording 5302. The purchase records of the rest of areas are as follows; Seoul 2340, Inchoeon 1934, Busan 1366, Jeju 1355, Jeonnam 1278, Gyeongnam 1607, Gyeongbuk 964, Chungnam 885, Ulsan 814, Daegu 798, Daejeon 647, Chungbuk 646, Gangwon 618, Gwanju 583, Saejong 164.

The domestic hybrid car market was led by Korean cars by overtaking the entire top ten in records of sales. Both Hyundai and Kia brands took each 5 ranks among top 10. (Hyundai 1·5·6·7·10, and the rest Kia) The imported brands ranked 11 to 20 while Japanese brands, including the 7 models of Lexus and Toyota, were emphasized.
