[Consumerwide_ HueSoung, Jun Reporter / Yohan, Bok Reporter] Electric car consumption is slowing down. There has been a decrease in domestic new car sales during July compared to the month before and the same month last year. Some say that the purchase of an electric car has almost reached an end in Korea. The growth rate of electric cars is rapidly decelerating.

According to electric car sales trend data provided by Carisyou on the 19th, the monthly sales record of new electric cars had begun decreasing from May, and it continued. The sales record of electric cars during July was 14614, which was a 2.2% decrease from last month, and a 6.4% decrease from the same month last year. The market share was 10.1%. Some argue that considering the electric car is being way more expensive without subsidies compared to fuel cars, the decline in sales is inevitable as much as subsidies decrease. Besides, worries about the quality of electric cars, as the recent e-model of Kia was found with a "car shuts off" fault, and a delay in Volvo and Polestar's new model release during the second half of the year might have added to it. In response to this, car manufacturers began promoting electric cars along with discount sales, which is a maximum discount of 4 million won. German brands including Benz, BMW, and Audi began discount promotions at max. over 20% this month. I am curious about whether their discount policy will improve electric car sales record in the market.

On the other hand, female customers in their 30s to 50s, and male customers in their 40s and 60s led the market in electric car purchases during July. For the case of females, customers in their 40s were the big hand in the age category. These are the purchase records referring to age: customers in their 40s 436, in their 50s 310, in their 30s 269, in their 60s 193, in their 20s 52, in their 70s 26.  For male customers, customers in their 40s purchased the most during July by recording 1182. Purchase records for the rest of their ages are as follows; in their 50s 957, in their 60s 898, in their 30s 745, in their 70s 316, in their 20s 156.

In the regional category, Gyounggi seemed most serious about purchasing electric cars by recording 1598. Electric car sales records for the rest of areas are, Gyoungnam 1598, Incheon 946, Seoul 798, Busan 620, Jeju 582, Gyoungbuk 512, Jeonbuk 379, Chungnam 320, Jeonnam 316, Daegu 279, Chungbuk 200, Daejeon 198, Gangwon 178, Gwangju 167, Ulsan 86, Sejong 55.

In the domestic electric car market, domestic brands were the main trend during July. For the top ten records for new electric car sales, the top 5 were all taken by domestic brands while the rest of them (6th~ 10th) were taken by mixed brands. The Kia brand led the market among domestic brands. Brand ranks are as follows: Kia 1st, 2nd, 5th, Hyundai 3rd, 4th, 6th, Genesis 7th, 8th, 10th, Chevrolet 9th.
