[Consumerwide_  HueSoung, Jun Reporter / Yohan, Bok Reporter] Mid-aged customers in their 40s to 60s led the domestic car market during July. In the car class category, small SUVs sold the most, while SUVs sold the most in the appearance category. In the fuel category, the diesel car took second place after the petrol car by pushing the former winner hybrid car away.

On the 10th, followed by Carisyou datalab, the Ministry of transportation, land, and infrastructure, Korea Automobile Importers and Distributors Association, the total new car registration counted 145146 during July, which was 11.5% from a month before, and a 4% decrease from the same month last year. The sales record, which has been consistently increasing since May, was broken during July. The sales record of a passenger car was 122916, which was a 14.8% decrease from a month ahead, and a 4.3% decrease from the same month last year. But, the sales record for a commercial car was 22230, which was a 2.4% decrease from the same month last year and 12.0% increase from last month.

In the fuel category, the petrol car ranked the top in new car sales market share by selling 71274 cars (14.1% from last month, 5.8% decrease from the same month last year) in July. The diesel car ranked second in market share by selling 27468 cars in July, having a hybrid behind (25338). It seems to be the sales record of hybrid cars, which began speeding down, might be one of the reasons for this. The sales record of an electric car has decreased by 6.4% from the same month last year and a 2.2% decrease from a month before by recording 14614. In the gender category, female customers purchased 29097 while male customers purchased 65920. In the purchase increase rate, female customers had a 10.7% decrease from last month, and a 0.3% increase from the same month last year. On the other hand, male customers had a decrease from both last month (13.1%) and the same month of last year (0.9%), which demonstrates that the purchases of female customers are increasing relatively. In the age category, customers in mid-age, especially those in their 50s, lead the market by purchasing 26879 cars. Besides, customers in their 40s purchased 23032 while customers in their 60s purchased 17438 cars. Records for the rest of the age groups are customers in their 30s, 17369, customers in their 20s, 6321, customers in their 70s, 3978.

In vehicle size classification, small SUVs (over 1,600cc) led the new car sales by selling 31074 cars in July. Among entire classes, the sales records of small SUV and large car had increased (17.5%, 1.6%) and the sales records of the rest of the classification had decreased. The sales records for the rest of the classification are, mid-sized 29549, large 20676, full-sized 18884, compact 12822, light 9911. In the appearance category, the SUV was exclusively loved by customers, which was clearly proved by the sales records in July. This number, which is 65720, is a 12.2% decrease from last month and a 0.9% decrease from the same month last year. Nevertheless, it was a record that no other cars could catch up. For sales records of the rest of types are, sedan 39343 (second), RV 11236 (third), hatchback 4083 (fourth), pickup truck 1668 (fifth). In the international car category, a total of 123408 (passenger 102135, commercial 21273) domestic cars were sold while 21738 (passenger 20781, commercial 957) international cars were sold.
