[Consumerwide_ HueSoung, Jun Reporter / Yohan, Bok Reporter] Domestic and imported car industries began providing emergency relief service for heavy rain victim customers as damage is severe. Some car businesses donated. This is a part of taking a social responsibility to practice ESG management, which can be a reference point for consumption value.

According to General insurance association of Korea on the 18th, there had been 1335 car flooded cases between 27th of June and 9am of 18th of July, when the constant rain took place during the rainy season, based on data provided from Samsung fire and marine insurance, Hyundai marine and fire insurance, Lotte insurance, Meritz fire and marine insurance, DB insurance, KB insurance, the estimated loss appears to be 12,836,000,000 won.

In regional category, there had been 268 cases in Chungnam province, where had the most flooded car cases, and Chungbuk (199), Gyounggi (170), Gyoungbuk (130), Gwangju (121), Jeonbuk (114) also had multiple flooded car cases. As flooded car damage is severe, car industries began supporting victim customers.

On that day, followed by car industry, Volvo car Korea is providing

emergency relief service for flood victims due to heavy rain till the 4th of coming month. Thus, car owners can get free check-ups through expert technicians regarding accurate damage condition of inner and outer parts of car, engine room, driving and safety related core parts at the 32 authorized service centers in local areas. Customers can get 30% of discount under limit of 3 million won in max. scale for the paid car part replacement caused by flood. Multiple discounts are not possible, including promotions and discount deals from other sources.

Besides, in the case of urgency, customers can use car towing and emergency relief services through the 365days-24hours customer support service.

Volkswagen Korea also began operating flooded car victim support service for Volkswagen customers through the 33 Volkswagen official service center in domestic areas till the end of next month. They are providing free towing service for the cars that are not possible to drive on account of severe flood. Additionally, Volkswagen supports with cash for public transportation at 50 thousand won in max during the repairment, and also deliver the cars for free after repairment. Customers without own damage car insurance, Volkswagen is paying 30% of repairment due to flooded car damage at the Volkswagen official service center.

Domestic car industries, including GM Korea (Chevrolet), Renault car Korea (Renault Korea), and KG Mobility, also begun supporting flooded car victims. Foremost, Chevrolet is paying 50% of total repairment of Chevrolet car customers without own damage car insurance for flooded damage due to severe rain. In order to get the service, the flood damage car needs to enter the Chevrolet service network.

Chevrolet is also facilitating door to door service, which provide emergency call, free car check-ups, and replacement of consumable parts of car services in the victim areas. Alongside of this, Chevrolet is hosting "2023 summer vacation season free check up campaign" between 26th and 28th for three days at 9 Chevrolet direct service centers located in 9 areas including Busan, Gwangju, Ulsan, Daejeon, and Inchoen. Any Chevrolet customer can use them. During this period of time, customers can receive 8 types of free check services including engine oil, filter, air cleaner element, air conditioner filter, auto mission oil, break oil, battery, tire (air pressure/tread depth), brake pad, wipers (arm/blade). Renault Korea is paying for Renault Korea owner's bill regarding repairment (approx. 20~30% of entire bill) if the owner is a victim of car damage due to flooding from heavy rain. For paid repairment (no insurance cover), Renault is offering max. car service at max. 20% discounted price and car parts supply at max. 25% discounted price. Discount rate is decided upon the year of release. For the repairment payment that is over the car price compensated by insurance, Renault Korea offers multiple discounts through "Car with accident history repairment support program". It can also be towed to the closest service center for free. This special support campaign is facilitated through 400 Renault Korea service network in domestic areas.

Meanwhile, KG Mobility began "2023 heavy rain damage car special repairment service" campaign for natural disaster victim car owners due to heavy rain and typhoon this year till 31st of Oct. The service is a special repairment offered for victim cars. Additionally, cars without own damage insurance get 40% discount for entire repairment, which includes car parts and service. Also, KG Mobility is facilitating a close distance service network in cooperation with local authorities to provide services including emergency call and free car check-ups for the flooded cars, as well as replacement of consumable parts of car and push start services. An associated person of KG Mobility said, "If you start a flooded engine, engine, transmission, and electric parts can be severely damaged, thus, assistance of expert or checkups at a close distance service network is necessary."

A car business, Toyota Motor Korea, donated 0.1 bn won to Hope bridge Korea disaster relief association for emergency relief of victims and the restoration of the areas due to heavy rain damage. An associated person of Toyota Motors Korea said, "We are passing on genuine comfort to the heavy rain damage victims in local area. We pray that flood disaster victims would return to an ordinary life asap without additional damages."
