[Consumerwide - Jinil Kang Reporter / Yohan Bok Reporter] Based on his belief that caring for children of his own as well as those of others matters in order to build a happy home, his second life value consumption is succeeding in childcare. As a practical step, he has found an educational community NGO, Jaljaljal, that targets training children with good care.

Lee Jeongsoo said, "One of three teens responded that they are willing to go behind the bar if they can get 1 billion won in a high school student survey. Hearing that, I sighed, thinking it is something one can earn through life as long as he's got the will and effort. Besides, I wanted children to feel the same about Korea, which I appreciate and love. Nevertheless, it seems to me that the entire nation is seeing whether Daechidong or Nonhyeondong style is the only way. The Daechidong style evaluates Suneung (assessment for capacity to enter university) as a life target and fast learning as excellent. Nonhyeondong style offers numerous chances for children to try based on the material wealth of their parents. Here I thought of the possibility of passing down generous influence to children mentally."

The main spirit of Jaljaljal is growing mature as a unique and healthy person to benefit the entire human race (Hongikingan); thus, we (parents and the organisation) lead students to find their own answers by supporting them in an environment in which children can study in pairs and learn through discussion. The mission class of Jaljaljal, which is a representative havruta style of training, supports children to decide and carry out the mission through a weekly meeting. Our first mission was Plea Market; since then, we have made our song (song writing), made our cartoon, cleaned our school toilet, and plogged (a current project). Lee said, "Through the process of convincing and arguing each other towards a goal of deciding a mission, children get to learn dealing in society (mission transaction) naturally, which is also quite a fun and enjoyable process."

The first step of the "Making a Right Education Roadmap" project of Jaljaljal is letting children do what they desire to do. Lee said, "I perceive that by the time my little girl (elementary 4th year) enters the university, it won't be too difficult to entre universities in Seoul due to furious competition between schools to attract future students caused by a decreasing population and studying population. Having this picture in mind, we are focusing on children to bring creative output by giving them a chance to do what they desire instead of constantly letting them solve difficult math problems."

The second step is helping children donate leftover pocket money, hoping they will mature as helpers to others. Lee said, "Children get to have a chance to think about the target person to help due to our assignment of donating pocket money on a monthly basis, which is a way to assist them to grow as practical helpers for somebody in the future."

The third step is making a good community for children. He said, "We are trying to make a perfect community where children can go back and forth between their parents and friends in times of difficulty because we see that a word of friends matters more than a word of parents to children."

The fourth step is training children with private training expenses under 0.2 million won.

Lee said, "Based on research done by a mass media company, which says that educational expenses until the age of 18 in Korea are on average 0.3 billion won and 6 billion won in rich areas, we are hoping to pass on the system of reducing educational expenses down to 0.2 million won monthly by maximising the public education system. Our final target is to return the good sense of authority of a teacher to school by cooperating with parents, which involves decisive steps by parents willing to take responsibility for the character of their own children, so that school will function as a place of study instead of private institutes in Korea. It's been long since the day of the teacher has been forgotten in our society.

The fifth step is making children entrepreneurs. He said, "Jaljaljal is aiming to assist children in making their childhood business dream come true, just like Israel does, instead of training them towards universities to succeed in entering large businesses and leaving entrepreneurship as their last option after retirement."

Closing the interview, he said, "We will consistently strive to spread our educational cooperative, which is ready for the second applicant soon due to its successful achievement."
