[Consumerwide - Youngchul Woo Reporter/ Yohan Bok Reporter] Paying taxes is a duty and a necessary expenditure for businesses and individuals, as it becomes an essential resource to facilitate government. This also leads to a virtueous circle of society for the next generation.

According to "Tax evasion status between 2018 and 2022, in the major four sectors" (National Tax Service, provided by Seo Yeonggyo (politition), the amount of tax evasion counts 2,434 cases (evasion cases) and 4.348 trillion won (tax imposement). It's growing wide. But some are diligently fulfilling their tax duties as individual and business citizens.

Taxpayers appreciation day is held on March 3 annually, with the purpose of encouraging citizens to pay tax. On that day, the government awards those good tax payers with the following performances: faithful tax claim and payment in accordance with the tax law; faithful payment with a small income; taking healthy tax duty along with strengthening national competitiveness by hiring employees; expanding future growth power; and contributing to the market price. 

Woowahan (the first case among domestic delivery platform businesses) and Hoban Construction (the only case this year in the construction industry) were awarded tower awards for over 100 billion won of tax payments. Goryeoahyeon awarded tower awards for over 400 billion won of tax payments, along with their constant business performance for 96 quarters in the non-ferrous metal industry since 1974. A total of 14 businesses were awarded for paying the large tax this year. (700 billion tower: Korean Air; 200 billion tower: Samsung Biologics; CDL Hotel Korea; 100 billion tower: 10 businesses)

These are the details for the winners of the order of merit and commendation this year: order of merit (9), medal (12), president commendation (23), prime minister commendation (25), deputy prime minister, and minister of the ministry of strategy and finance commendation (500).

SFA (intergrated equipment business) was awarded president commendation, and Korea Petroleum (expertise in aspalt for industry/CEO: Gang Seungmo) was awarded prime minister commendation for tax, social, and economic contribution (exporting and employing young people). TheKary (infant and children's fashion business/Lee Eunjeong) was awarded deputy prime minister and minister of the ministry of strategy and finance commendation for tax payment and donations. TheKary has been continuing a variety of support for children through the CSR campaign (Kary Santa) in cooperation with the Child Fund, Chest, and Gangnam Severance Hospital (children and teen's department).

Hanmisemi (Gwak Dongshin, the vice chairman), Aekyung Chemical, Daemyeong Energy, and Renault Korea (Kim Dongjin, Custom's team leader) were awarded deputy prime minister and minister of the ministry of strategy and finance commendations. Wellsbio (Choi Yeongho, the CEO and affiliate of Access Bio) got the Commissioner of the National Tax Service commendation. Pulmuone Sammul got the model taxpayer's commendation for safe financial management, clean management, social contribution activity, and faithful tax payment.
