[Consumerwide - HueSoung Jun Reporter / Yohan Bok Reporter] Chanel sales staff overturned the strike as it came to an agreement between Chanel Korea and the Labour Union dramatically. Due to this, sales staff of Chanel department stores and dutyfree stores went back to work without having to participate in the strike during the weekend, which they planned to strike prior to the agreement. Now, customers can purchase Chanel products at the department stores and dutyfree stores every weekend and Chuseok holiday, which is good news for Chanel lovers.

An associated person from Chanel Korea department stores and dutyfree stores Labour Union said during an interview with Consumerwide, "Collective bargaining in 2023 between Chanel Korea and the Labour union, which began on the 7th, has dramatically come to an agreement on the morning of the 8th, today. Most of our appeals have been accepted regarding the staff salaries. Besides, we signed an agreement that satisfies common inquiries, which includes customer care staff protection manuals and holidays. TF will be strengthened and details will be announced soon by the Chanel Labour Union."

Eventually, collective bargaining in 2023 between Chanel Korea and the Labour union dramatically came to an end and further steps of strike during every weekend have been overturned. Earlier, the Chanel Labour Union urgently began a strike because they saw the employer company, Chanel Korea, did not demonstrate sincerity during the collective bargaining, which had been ongoing since March.

The reason behind the strike is the basic salary switch issue. Recently, it's been found that the basic salary of new staff, who just got employed in July, exceeded the basic salary of staff worked over 10 years. At that time, an associated person from the Labour Union said during an interview with Consumerwide, "Recently, it's been found that the basic salary of new staff, who just got employed in July, exceeded the basic salary of staff worked over 10 years.  Due to this basic salary switch issue between workers, our strike has begun. We plan to continue the strike till our appeals are accepted, which will involve every Friday to Sunday and Chuseok holiday at department stores and dutyfree stores."

On the other hand, Chanel Korea has reached over 300 billion won of net income last year, which is a 174% increase from a year prior. Between 2020 and 2022, when everyone was having a hard time due to Covid19, the annual net income of Chanel increased approx. 2 folds from a year before.
