Businesses are holding recycling, newcycling projects, and sustainability promotions celebrating Korean Resource Circulation Day.

[Consumerwide_Hayoung Chang Reporter/Yohan Bok Reporter]  Sept.6th is Korean Resource Circulation Day, which has been regislated by the Korean government to promote the importance of earth environmental protection and recycling resources, in 2009. Each business initiates recycling and newcycling projects, making donations for resource circulation, and special promotions in celebrating Korean Resource Circulation Day. Nespresso is facilitating a coffee capsule newcycling and donation project, while P&G Korea is holding environmental sustainability promotions. CJ Onstyle is donating to a social business, and Hyosung TNC and BYN Blackyark signed a treaty for recycling fibers.

Nespresso is hosting the "Coffee Capsule Segabeochi Project" to celebrate the Korean Resource Circulation Day. The project, which they cooperate with Kakaomakers, is designed for newcycling of used coffee capsules and encouraging participating consumers. Collected used coffee capsules, which they got from participants, are newly produced as items and sold at Kakaomakers. The profit is used to support children's environmental education through a social business, Treeplanet. Consumers can participate between 6th and 24th of Sept on Kakaomakers homepage, and if you get confirmed for participation, they will send you a bag for collection during Oct, and it is collected between 1st and 23rd of Nov. Nespresso is collecting only aluminum coffee capsules, which can be from any brand concerning that more people would be able to participate. Plastic capsules aren't included. All the participants get a nespresso club credit, which they can use both in the official nespresso mall and boutique stores. Additionally, upcycled tote bags are given to 10 thousand participants through a rotary system.

P&G Korea is hosting an environmental sustainability promotion till the 10th. This promotion is designed for awareness of LCA and the importance of environmental protection to customers, so that consumers may be able to maintain sustainable life habits in daily consumption and making choices. LCA aims to improve environmental influence during the manufacturing process, and it includes resourcing, packaging, delivery, use, and waste. During the event, Dawney and Pampers products are sold at max. 64% discounted price, plus max. 10% of payment is saved as a Naver point. Besides, discount coupons, and gift vouchers are offered on a first come, first served basis.

CJ Onstyle is donating fashion, goods, and health products to a social business, "Sharing Happiness" stores. Products are used to support employment of citizens in vulnerable conditions, and 10% of profits are used for opening and facilitating "CJ Onstyle X Sharing Happiness" stores. (Recycling sharing stores) They plan to reduce carbon emissions by lessening waste in the process of stock management. CJ Onstyle passed on the message that they plan to strive and practice various ways to establish a social virtuous circle.

Hyosung TNC and BYN Blackyark signed a treaty to expand a resource virtuous circle system for clear pet bottles. Hyosung TNC is taking care of the development and manufacturing of polyester fiber using recycled pet bottle waste, while Blackyark produces upcycled products using this material. The procedure of Regen with Blackyak fibers is as follows. Firstly, businesses and local authorities are collecting pet bottles, wash and crush them into tiny pieces in partnership with Blackyark. Then, Hyosung TNC melts those pieces and manufactures them into fibers.

Regen with Blackyak fibers, which contain only Korean resources from the raw material to complete production, are applied to light and comfortable tshirts and pants products in cooperation with domestic businesses. Blackyark is looking forward to leading the domestic recycling market to begin with this project. Hyosung TNC is planning on developing Regen with Blackyak fibers with antimicrobial properties.
