[Consumerwide_Jinil Kang Reporter / Yohan Bok Reporter] The "Mega beauty show virtual store", which was the first customer engagement beauty experimental event hosted by Coupang, was held between 18th and 20th for three days at the Seoul Seongsudong Scène.

The "Mega beauty show virtual store" was at the center of attention as much as all the entry tickets for every single time slot were sold out by the time of opening day. The reservation was taken between 31st of July and opening day. Thus, the reporter went to the "Mega beauty show virtual store" on the last day of the event, which was the 20th, to check out the event.


Beauty consumers gathered for the "Mega beauty show virtual store"... Consumers were satisfied with the event and the beauty box gifts.


The "Mega beauty show virtual store" was held at Seongsudong Scène. The location is a total of 134 pyeong scale with 2 floors, and has got a history of holding various beauty and fashion brand popup store events, including Dior, Bobbi Brown, Polo Ralph Lauren, which is almost called the "pilgrim of beauty" for beauty consumers. This event had the participation of 15 brands, including Aestura, Innisfree, AHC, Scène, Etude, Espoir, Vanilaco, Romand, Dr.Jarte, merzy, Luna, Piccasso, CellfusionC, Celimax, La Roche Posay. 60 customers entered for each 30 minutes between 11am and 8pm everyday according to the entry policy. Considering all the time slots that were sold out, it is suspected to have 3000 people during the whole event. In order to enter the event, customers had to purchase an entry ticket online through Coupang (which costs 100 won) or purchase at the entrance on the event day. The reporter visited the event hall at 2pm on 20th.

The entrance was busy with people lined up for entry (reservation and entry purchase), while the event hall was crowded with people wanting to participate in the event at each brand-booth. The event presented characteristics of each brand, and visitors could get gifts when they participated in the event. Most brand-booths offered SNS participation events, including Instagram (feed) and Kakao (Plus friend), and the gifts were branded product samples or actual products. There were quite a number of people taking photos for personal SNS, and people from overseas.

The beauty box was loved the most during the event. The beauty box was made of branded products, which were selected for the first half of 2023 award in the beauty sector of Rocketdelivery, and visitors could get them for the purchase of over 20 thousand won. Consumers seemed to love this event. Ice coffee provided for the ID holders was pretty nice to cool down the heat on a hot summer day.

A female visitor met at the event hall said, "I was satisfied that I could get a beauty box with various products just by purchasing products for 20 thousand won along with a 100 won reservation ticket."

A Japanese female visitor said, "I came here with my Korean friend. We participated in the event and received gifts, including the beauty box. I was happy that I could have a joyful time while receiving quite a number of gifts, even feeling heavy on my shoulders. I took tons of photos and updated on my personal Instagram."

A lady in her 20s said, "My boyfriend suggested coming together, and I am glad we came. The beauty box contains various products starting from cleansing products to makeup products. Some are those I have been checking out to purchase, so I was glad. The beauty box was the favourite. I wish there would be more brands to participate so that we customers would have a chance for more plentiful events."

Regarding this event, an associated person from Coupang said, "We designed the event to get even closer to customers with products made by the best small and medium businesses in Coupang's beauty category. We are grateful for all the love of customers during our first virtual store event."
