Pontus HUD products no longer provide Tmap (Photo : Pontus HUD capture)

[Consumerwide_ HueSoung, Jun Reporter / Yohan, Bok Reporter] Pontus HUD (Head up display) and Tmap are no longer cooperating, and this is causing inconvenience to Puntus users. However, the problem lies in the homepage and online sales. Ads for Tmap service are still on the Pontus homepage and on the open market, which is causing confusion.

An error was found while using Pontus HUD-Tmap service in July. The users were able to activate Tmap through a smartphone while using Pontus HUD. Many customers chose Pontus HUD because they don't need to view the navigation through a small screen, and they could look straight forward while driving, which is safe. Then this error occurred. Pontus HUD works with some of the navigation models manufactured directly by carmakers, including Hyundai and Kia. Thus, users who own them will have access to this service will have no problem, but those who purchased for the sake of the TMap service won't. They are no longer connected between Pontus and Tmap because SKT stopped providing Pontus HUD navigation service. An associated person from HUD CS center said during an interview with Consumerwide, "SKtelecom stopped the HUD support business, which we've been providing for Pontus HUD, thus no more Tmap service is available for Pontus users. You can check them out through our homepage."

Earlier, Hyundai Pontus announced on the HUD homepage on the 13th, "As we stopped operating Tmap service due to discontinuing cooperation with SKTelecom regarding HUD products, we have developed connections with other navigation providers, including Kakao and Naver. We've been proceeding to go to an app store. We will try to get ready with a new service by the first of July, and it's on the way to finalizing updates. Furthermore, we apologize to HUD users for this inconvenience that has occurred."

However, the issue is in the ads that are still on HUD homepage (product information) and open markets, including Gmarket, based on the update of 14th. In particular, Pontus HUD is providing information that the map service provider can change. But, this is not enough to give a clear idea about why HUD no longer provides a Tmap service. Some might perceive that HUD still works for Tmap. Not only so, a replacement for Tmap has not applied, nor can you find any relevant information on the Pontus homepage. You can find the detailed information only on Pontus HUD app. At the moment, Mappy can be connected with HUD, not Tmap. Tmap customers have got to notice them prior to purchase.
