[Consumerwide - Hayoung Chang Reporter/Yohan Bok Reporter] Businesses have initiated ESG activities, such as preserving the environment in the countries where their factories are located. Their activities seem to be moving beyond national boundaries.

Cesco has donated 36.3932 million won, which is from the accumulated points of Cesco users, to WWF for earth environmental preservation. WWF is the world's biggest scaled NGO, based in Switzerland, and its projects aim for nature preservation. WWF has been initiating a variety of activities, such as responding to the climate crisis, protecting the environment, reducing plastic, and preventing pollution. The donation from Cesco is going to be used to sponsor the imPACT fund of WWF, which is a project to resolve plastic pollution issues. The Cesco donation seems meaningful as it involves consumers. This donation has been built through the "100 (won) to the future" donation programme held between the beginning of the second half and the end of the year in 2023. 100 won was donated for each purchase of the Cesco Mylab (insecticide, disinfectant, and dishwashing detergent) product. Even those who have not purchased them have participated in donations by cheering on the donation programme during the year-end event, and a total of 310,000 people participated. Cesco has passed on the message that they have been primarily engaged in all the processes of management activities, including the announcement of the environmental declaration concerning social responsibility as business citizens, since 25 years ago. Additionally, Cesco is willing to focus on minimising environmental influence through continuous technology development while still managing environmental measurements such as CO2 emissions.

KB Insurance is donating 1000 motorcycle safety helmets, which are made in cooperation with local businesses, to children and teens from financially vulnerable families in Indonesia. They seem to be aiming for both child protection and vitalizing the local economy. According to KB Insurance, they plan to implement profitable ESG projects in Indonesia that will benefit locals. In particular, KB is planning to pass on 1000 safety helmets for motorcycles to children and teens from financially vulnerable families in Indonesia. 83.3% of every family in Indonesia owns a motorcycle, based on the 0.126 billion motorcycles registered in 2022, according to data from the Indonesian police. It also says that the user rate of motorcycles is high, starting with teens, which results in a higher accident rate for teen drivers annually. KB Insurance perceives not wearing a safety helmet as one of the major reasons for motorcycle accidents and has designed a safety helmet support project to build a safe road environment for motorcycle drivers in Indonesia. Donations are focused on teens and children from low-income families. The helmets are intentionally made in Indonesia in cooperation with local businesses, which might have a positive outcome for the local economy, according to KB Insurance. Jo Jeongrae, the president of corporate in Indonesia, KB Insurance, has said, "We are grateful to continually support teens and children with safety helmets this year as well. Furthermore, KB Insurance will constantly initiate various ESG activities along with quality of insurance service, so that our steps may be felt equally among citizens of Indonesia."
