[Consumerwide - Jinil Kang Reporter / Yohan Bok Reporter] McDonald's and Mom's Touch began raising burger prices due to the rising prices of raw materials. Other burger brands say that they do not plan for a price rise. However, it is still expected.

Annually, McDonald's has raised prices twice: in February and August last year and in February and November this year. The last price rise was an average of 3.7%. Concerning the first rise being an average rate of 5.4%, we could imagine McDonald's has been hesitant this time. Four burgers, including Beef Burger, BicMac, MacSpicy Shanghai Burger (+300 won), and Egg Beef Burger (+400 won), 1 McMorning menu, 7 side and dessert menus, and 1 drink menu (Ice Drip Coffee +200 won), are included. For instance, the cost of a beef burger changed from 2800 won to 3100 won at BigMac and MacSpicy to 5500 won. In the case of BigMac and MacSpicy, they rose by 600 won during a year. Other menus, including the children's menu "Happy Meal", will keep the former price.

An associated person from McDonald's said during an interview with Consumerwide, "We raised prices due to a constant rise in raw material and logistics costs, yet we tried to minimise them." And he added, "Children's favourite menu, Happy Meal, remains the former price for family customers. And we are continuing to facilitate the Happy Snack (a popular d/c menu for all days) and McLunch menu platforms, which provide popular burger set menus at discounted prices. We tried our best to minimise the price change range."

As soon as McDonald's announced their price plan, Mom's Touch began announcing their plan for a price rise as well. The average rate is approximately 5%, and four types of burgers, which use chicken breast patties, will have a 300 won price rise from October 31st. The changed prices are as follows: Fillet Burger from 4400 to 4700 won; White Garlic Burger from 4900 to 5200 won; Deep Cheese Burger from 4800 to 5100 won; and Unbelivable Burger from 5900 to 6200 won. Chicken, side menus, and the representative menu of Mom's Touch "Thigh Burger" remain the same. An associated person from Mom's Touch said, "Due to unstable supply and the constant rise of raw materials, we had to change prices differently from our initial plans. After discussions with franchises, we are changing the price by October 31st."

Burgerking, Lotteria, KFC, and Nobrandburger are not planning a price rise. An associated person from Burgerking said during an interview with Consumerwide that they have checked a couple of times, and officially, they don't plan to change the price for now.

Nevertheless, concerning the Burger trend in the past, the price rise of the entire industry is predictable in the near future due to the price rise of McDonald's and Mom's Touch.
