[Consumerwide_Hayoung, Chang Reporter / Yohan, Bok Reporter] Recently, I have been checking out the ESG management efforts of beauty businesses in Korea. Businesses make various efforts to practice ESG management. Some companies set new moral standards which distance their system from corruption to strengthen the moral sense in the company. And, some try to practice sharing growth and environmental enhancement through activities like volunteer work for local society and the climate crisis movement.

Loreal Korea hosted the 'Citizenday' on Community Partnership Day, and Kolmar Korea has established the 'Autonomous Compliance Day'.

Loreal Korea hosted volunteer work to enhance biodiversity at 5 parks located in the middle of the capital area, including Seoul, in cooperation with Seoul Green Trust. This is a part of the 'Citizenday' activities where staff and executives of the global Loreal Group participate on Community Partnership Day. The 'Citizenday' has begun since 2010, and the staff and executives of the Loreal group were involved based on the slogan, "We all have a role," aiming to contribute to the local society which each of them live in.

This year, 350 staff and executives of Loreal Korea were participating to restore and maintain the ecosystem of parks and resting places in the middle of the city for four days from 10th to 15th of May in response to the climate crisis and global warming.

The project was taking place in 5 city parks, which include Godeok waterside ecological park, Jungrangcheon Salgoji sports park, Yeouisatgang ecological park, Suwon Majung park, Nanji ecological swamp park, and activities involved planting trees and flowering plants for prevention of flood-damage and  biodiversity, removing plants disturbing ecosystem, making teaching materials about ecosystem for citizens.

Samuel du Retail, the CEO of Loreal Korea said, "I perceive the Citizenday as a significant opportunity because our staff and executives get to recognize we too are part of local society through social contribution activities. We will constantly do various activities for environmental protection and share growth in local society."

Meanwhile, Kolmar Korea and Kolmar Holdings Korea have organized the 'Autonomous Compliance Day' which states their ideas about ESG moral management. During the event, they proclaimed a new moral standard compliance vow, and appointed a compliance manager.

Staff and executives have determined to follow the new rules and distance corruption. Kolmar Korea has explained that they are going to complete the internalization of ESG management through accelerating the CP(Compliance Program) culture and enhancement of moral standards of staff and executives. Kolmar Korea has designated 15th of May, which is the anniversary of Kolmar Korea, as 'Autonomous Compliance Day', and are planning to continue this event.
