The 2023 Seoul International Furniture and Interior industry Fair: Sofurn&Live show' was held at Coex Samsungdong Seoul between 4th and 7th of May. The exhibition is designed for interior-value consumers who are interested in creating their own more convenient and beautiful and fresh. Many came with an expectation for the event, which offered information on furniture, interior goods, home appliances, as well a talkshow. There were some missing points, however.
This Sofurn&Live show as made up of a product exhibition, a talkshow, and an event based on the theme 'Filling space with my favourite things.'
First of all, the product exhibition was offered by businesses in the home living&deco, smart office&home appliance, and lifestyle sectors. In particular, storage functions focused on bed design, eco-friendly outdoor aluminum benches, medical silicon mattress designed for severely burned patients, space-design furniture which pet owners share with their pets, breathing jar concealable containers attracted many visitors.
The talkshow was hosted by various experts who included No Heeyoung, the CEO of the Life Style Branding, Lim Hyoungnam, an architect (Building houses with a story), Kim Doogyu, a professor (Top 1% Pung-Su (geomancy) Interior), Kim Hyounseok, a professor (What is a happiness). This time might have satisfied the needs of visitors who are passionate about knowledge of the area.
The environmental love campaign of Starbucks (offering today's coffee when visitors bring their own multistable cups), the Photozone event of Shila-stay, and RE:EARTH (giving out eco-bags) of Lottemart were loved by the visitors the most.
A soon-to-be married couple visitor at the event hall said, "We came here to check out beds and sofas which we are going to purchase for our new home. We loved it because we could compare various products in one place and they offered discounted benefits."
A visitor in her 30s who nurtured a pet (cat) said, "I am considering purchasing a dining room table which I saw at the fair. It could work for my pet to access it freely. I wish there would be more products for pets in the market."
A visitor with her child said, "My home is relatively tiny. I discovered a bed which perfectly suited the space. It's a bed with high quality materials and has a convenient storing system. I thought this might be nice for the kid's room. Eventually, I got a consultation at the booth, and got a discount."
On the other hand, some visitors mentioned missing points from the event.
A visitor in his 40s, an interior designer, said, "A couple of products with low quality disappointed me to be honest. Furniture wasn't too different either from the quality of daily items. I was hopping to see furniture of high quality in variety. But, I am about to feel an inexpensive furniture complex here. Hope there will be a better presentation next time."
A man in his 30s said, "I liked the talk-show most more than seeing the furniture. On the 4th, I listened to Lim Hyoungnam, the architect, who was awesome. However, they are having only 2 days of talkshow on the 4th and 5th, while having 4 days of fair till 7th. I am hoping that the hosting organization will be trying more for a solid event till the last day.
A female visitor in her 60s said, "I was trying to participate in the event with great heart. But, then it ended way too fast. It was a free gift event which was based on first come first serve. But, then, considering it was a morning with not many visitors, the event finished in a very short time. A staff member said the event had finished because it was out of stock. I wonder if you can name it an event while you are preparing such a small portion of a gift."
