[Consumerwide_ HueSoung, Jun Reporter / Yohan, Bok Reporter] The imported car industry is busy promoting consumption value through ESG practice. Car brands, including Volvo Car Kora, Polestar, Porsche Korea, are developing eco-friendly activities for a sustainable future.

On the 4th, followed by the industry. First of all, the Volvo car Korea has opened to the public the eco-friendly character Sonn-ro-gi, which has been made by Volvo, as a part of their eco-friendly activity, ultimately aiming for a sustainable future. Soon-ro-gi, whose character was announced on YouTube last 31st, was made based on a representative Swedish herbivore(grass eating animal), 'reindeer'. Soonrogi used to live in a parallel universe. One night, he is sucked into a worm hall while being surrounded by unknown light, and he arrives on the earth we live on. Since then, he has got to build a mission based on the worldview of rescuing all the reindeers of the earth, who are in danger caused by global warming, through various eco-friendly activities which ultimately protect the earth. Soonrogi starts to act as a character representing 'the value of sustainability', which value Volvo car is supporting.

A Volvo Korea-related person said, "We've been suggesting practice on a daily basis and various campaigns in order to respond actively to the climate crisis. In particular, Volvo has started the Soon-ro-gi character to build a consensus and participation of more people on the eco-friendly campaign."

Meanwhile, Polestar has announced the third 'yearly sustainable report', which opens to the public about their new plans and achievement regarding environment and social issues in 2022. Polestar passed on 51500 electric cars to customers globally last year. It is an 80% increase compared to a year before. Thus, the CO2 emissions have also decreased to 8 % per car. The CO2 emission from a car in the manufacturing process has also decreased to 13%.

This means that they've approached both growth and reduction of CO2 emissions during 2 continuous years. In particular, they've reduced CO2 emissions to 1.2tons by changing the aluminum supply chains, from wheels and battery-transport-trays used on Polestar2, to waterpower generation by a basic manufacturer.

Polestar2 manufacturing factory has been running with 100% renewable electricity. Polestar has been targeting reducing the CO2 emissions per vehicle to 50% by 2030.

Regarding the cause of CO2 emission reduction, a Polestar-related person said, “Along with the reduction in average transport, growth in the market where it uses more renewable energy in the supply chain, single-motor sales' increase which has less energy consumed in the manufacturing process, the update which Polestar sustainability team has been persuing was available. We're managing the emissions by closely checking and measuring all the details. Polestar is constantly pursuing in order to bring down the CO2 emissions to 50% in the whole supply chain.

Porsche Korea has signed a business agreement for a 'school landscaping construction business' tied to an ecological transformation education system, which cooperates with the Seoul-si education office, Childfund. Thus, Porsche Korea brought a donation worth a total of 200 million won, which supports the 'Porsche dream circle' that forms a forest environment in connection with sustainability. The 'Porsche dream circle' is one of the social contribution campaign, 'Porsche 2 dream'. The 'Porsche dream circle' project promotes the importance of the resource virtuous circle value, carbon neutralization, and provides study space where students can play as much as they like in nature.

Earlier, Porsche Korea launched the 'Porsche 2 dream' in 2017. The total donation made through the '2 Dreams' campaign was 5.88 billion won. Porsche Korea has completed 'Porsche dream circle' in 8 schools so far. This year, the project is planned to open in 2 elementary schools. Porsche Korea is supporting financially for virtuous circle path, carbon absortion and forming the fine dust reduction forest, and Sunlight generation installation.

A Porsche Korea-related person said, "The ‘Porsche dream circle’ is a representative social contribution program. Having the agreement, now we can make a more complete ecological environment while strengthening the educational experiments. In the future, Porsche Korea will take responsibility as a business citizen for promoting the value of sustainability and the environment to more members of society."
