[Consumerwide_ Yohan, Bok Reporter] 'Casper' of Hyundai Motors, the compact SUV, is winning the domestic compact car market in a year's time since its release. Not only so, it took fourth place in the SUV market, having all the other popular cars behind it.
It has been known that electric-caspers will be released in close future. I'm curious about what electric-caspers like in the electric car market.
On 22nd, followed by Carisyou data institution, Hyundai Casper has begun with a small number(162), in September last year. Next month, Hyundai sold 1,733 Caspers, and in Nov 4,008. It was already going ahead of Ray (3,043), the rival model. This record continues with Dec 3,983, ('22)Jan 4,186, Feb 3,337, March 3,513, April 3,700, May 4,316, June 4,236, July 4,708, Aug. 3,493. Excluding April, Casper has always been ahead of Ray, the rival model. Caper sold 41,375 during one year.
Thus, Casper took 1st place in the domestic compact car market. 2nd Kia Ray (41,050), 3rd Kia Morning (27,277), 4th Chevrolet Spark(12,272), 5th Cevo Mobility Cevo-C(1,121). Casper is selling actively not only in the compact car market but also in the SUV market in Korea. Currently, Kia Sorento is taking first place in the domestic SUV market (63,610). And, 2nd is Kia Sportage(58,461), 3rd is Hyundai Palisade(47,652). Casper took 4th, having Kia Seltos(40,506) behind.
Meanwhile, 8 people out of 10 purchased Casper for personal use. Casper for personal use took 80.6 % among 33,347 cars during one year. Casper for rental was only 19.4%(8,016) and for official use 12 cars. Casper was preferred by individuals rather than corporations. Individuals purchased 31,609 Caspers(76.4%) while corporations and businesses purchased 9,766 (23.6%) during the year.
Casper was preferred by females and males. According to age, males in their forties and females in thirties purchased the most. Caspers purchased by females recorded 16,231(51.3%), which was 853 more than the records purchased by males(15,378)(48.7%). Unexpectedly, males in their forties purchased the most. (4,750). The sales record continues with thirties 3,781, fifties 3,679, sixties 2,147, teens 1,021.
Females in their thirties were the main customers, by recording 5,171. Female record continues with; forties 3,817, fifties 2,904, twenties 2,560, sixties 1,779. The record says that Casper, the compact SUV, wasn't the first car of the twenties, but a car of all generations.
If so, what would be customers' favourite options? Customers choose to purchase 'Inspiration', the highest level option, the most. The Inspiration recorded 26,254 taking 63.5%. The ranking continues with Modern 10,068( 24.3%), Smart 4,229(10.2%), Van Smart 824(2.0%).
Casper is moving forward by releasing electric-caspers in 2024. I look forward to seeing Casper's next season on the electric car market.
