[Consumerwide_ Yohan, Bok Reporter] The DS7 is a flagship SUV of the DS brand, the model you can truly feel the Parisienne feeling. It can be uncommon for us who are accustomed to German and North American models. You just get attracted to the Parisienne feeling of DS7 as soon as you take a ride.

I decided to take a test drive of the DS7 in order to experience the Parisienne feeling. The test drive took place on Seoul downtown road, Gangbyeonbukro, Jayuro, 101.3km. Outstanding drive capacity, comfortable riding, plenty of space, it was a real jack of all trades.

The DS7 is a strategic model that is the first DS car in South Korea. It's got a 1.2 liter Gasolin engine, which is the first time among brands. As well combined 8 steps of automatic transmission with 1.2 liter pure tech engine along with max. output 131 hp and max torque 23.5kg*m. Compound fuel efficiency is 11.8km/l. (downtown 10.5km/l, highway drive 13.7km/l)

The DS wings, which are a hexagone grill in a diamond pattern, and a matrix LED head lamp in pixel type, certainly captured eyes. It felt like a face that was luxurious and firm. What suprised me the most was the headlamp. The matrix LED head lamp in pixel type spins around 360 degrees when a person with a smart key comes close. It reminds me of psychic lighting in clubs. The DS7 has an overall length of 4,590mm, width 1,895mm, height 1,635mm, wheel base (btw center of front wheel and back wheel) 2,730mm, which is about semi-medium SUV size in Korea.

It's got a diamond pattern all over the interior that is rather easy to find where it has not. The leather seat and dashboard have Alcantara of high standard material while applying a diamond pattern, demonstrating the essence of Parisian luxury. This feels like a Chanel quilting bag. The DS7 start button is placed in the upper center of Centerfacia, different from any other car models having a start button on the back of the steering wheel, on the keybox. When you press the start button, certainly a watch pops up. This is probably a part of the Parisienne sense. The inside of the car is spacious. Second row legroom is beyond expectations. That was enough space for a grown man.

Then, what would be the drive capacity of the DS7? It felt like DS7 knows about driving. I didn't find any problems during downtown driving where it had traffic with multiple stops. It wasn't too strong in any specific way, rather on average. When we got to the highway, DS7 started to show its real color. DS7 responds immediately as if it reads the driver's mind. The DS7 started to speed up when I stepped into the accelerator. It felt like drinking a glass of soda. Power is more than enough. A steep uphill is not a big deal to DS7. It is stable in strong cornering. Riding comfort is gratifying. Vibration and road surface noise were not bad. Road surface shock was less, hence long riding was less tiring. Adoptive cruise control works well, which function is beneficial in speed limit sections.

The fuel efficiency is satisfying. Overall fuel efficiency is 17.8km/l for a 102 km drive. It is suprising considering the official compound fuel efficiency of the DS being 11.8km/l.

The DS7 test driving made me think the DS brand had been downgraded. It is an uncommon brand in Korea, but you will experience true capacity. I suspect that DS7 could be a new daily·family car option.
