[Consumerwide_ Huesoung, Jun Reporter / Yohan, Bok Reporter] Ikea Korea offers 'Chuseok(Korean thanksgiving) promotion'. The promotion is held between the 25th to 13th of Sept and various events are provided; Product discounts, gift card purchase events, and franchise events. The gift card purchase event is giving away a thanks-card worth 10 thousand won for every 100 thousand gift card purchases. Giving away cards is limited to 50 thousand. Hence, you get more when you split your gift card purchase into 500 thousand won if you plan to purchase gift cards for 1 million won.

Product discount is offered during the Chuseok promotion, followed by Ikea Korea on 25th. The discount event is exclusively for members(Ikea family) and the discount rate is up to 15%; EKEDALEN table and chair set (extendable table), Hemkomst stainless steel cookware set (pans and pots), Kanonkul cup, which is safely designed for children, and Smycka, quality plastic flowers for decoration. 

Ikea Korea is ready for the gift card event, which event has been held last year. This year, Ikea gives away a 10 thousand won card (thanksgiving card) for every 100 thousand won gift card purchase. Giveaways are maximum of 50 thousand won for one member on the purchase day. Hence, you get the best out of it when you split your purchase into 500 thousand won. For instance, if you are planning to purchase gift cards for 1 million won, split the purchase into two days. Then, free gift cards worth 100 thousand won are yours.

You can purchase gift cards in all Ikea franchises and on the official homepage. (Gwangmyeong, Goyang, Giheung, Dongbusan) Gift cards and giveaway cards are given whether in physical cards (franchise store purchases) or QR codes (homepage purchases). Ikea Korea does not offer other than the giveaway event. You need to forward them if you want to give them as a present. (no gift card forwarding service) However, you can pass it over to your relatives and friends (only for digital gift cards) by emailing them. It takes about 48 hours of waiting time to activate digital gift cards.

You can present a gift card on your smartphone at the checkout counter, or you may print them out. Giveaway cards are expired by the 30th of November. (giveaway cards can be used from14th Oct~) An Ikea-related person said during the interview with Consumerwide "All franchises provide physical cards when you purchase gift cards in the stores. When you purchase them on the official online malls you get QR codes. You may pass them to your relatives and friends."

Meanwhile, Ikea is offering special events in franchise stores. Ikea restaurant offers Chuseok set menu that you may enjoy with your family and friends. 24.9 thousand won for Plant ball, Carbonara pasta, spicy ribs, and soft drinks. In addition to that, franchises run traditional game events(yuchnoli, jegichagi, tuho), wish card events, and photo zone SNS events.

An Ikea-related person said, "Ikea prepared events, such as gift card purchase event, restaurant Chuseok set menu discount event, and Franchises' Chuseok event, that more people may enjoy national holidays after Covid 19 physical distancing clearance.
